"Korra! Come on!" Mako tried to convince the waterbender.
"No! They already put my arm in the sling!" she yelled at him. "And thanks to my limping out of the office, they also looked at my leg!" Mako let out a frustrated sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose, Tenzin like, almost.
"Please don't make me go get Bolin. He's the only one that can carry you around and keep you from squirming." He told her blandly. Korra stuck her tongue out at him and plopped down confidently on her bed. "Alright, have it your way," he walked to the door and stuck his head. "Bo! Come here," he yelled down the stairs as Korra silently stood up and hopped to her window, "you're gonna have to carry her!" He turned back around to see the avatar swinging her injured leg over the window sill. "Korra!" he yelled.
"See ya!" she said as she slipped from the window. She concentrated her powers and using her left arm and brought water rushing up from Yue Bay. It swirled around her as she focused on getting to the ground. She landed gently enough and steadied herself with her crutch. She laughed as she looked back and saw Mako screaming at her from the tower. She smiled triumphantly until she saw a look of smugness cross his features. She turned around in fright, only to meet Bolin's waiting arms.
"You didn't think you were gonna get away that easily, did you?" he asked, grinning like a child who'd just won himself a gold fish. "Come on down bro! I got her!" he called to the firebender who was still hanging out of the window.
"You are so gonna get it!" she muttered menacingly. Bolin laughed and wrapped a muscled arm around her waist to prevent escape.
"I think I'll be fine," he chuckled. "Now, let's go get you seen about."

"Mako, please!" she begged quietly as they approached the local clinic. "Don't make me go." Mako smirked down at her as he ever-so-slightly tightened his grip on her arm.
"Don't tell me the mighty avatar is afraid of a little doctor's visit," he whispered as they opened the door.
"Of course not," she puffed up, not willing to let her pride be bruised by the firebender. "I just get nervous. They make me feel so uncomfortable," she shuddered slightly. She wished Bolin hadn't had to have stayed on Air Temple Island to babysit the kids. He could always make her laugh and feel better. Her own boyfriend just teased her.
"Do you have an appointment?" asked the secretary sitting behind the main desk.
"She's here for a check-up. I believe this is the right day." Mako told her.
"Name?" she questioned.
"Korra," the avatar said, wanting to look somewhat in control. The lady sifted through some papers before she looked up.
"Yes, Korra." She said, "Just take a seat over there and he'll be with you soon." Korra and Mako nodded and went over to seat themselves.
"There's nothing to wrong with doctor's visits, Korra. They're the good guys." Mako told her softly. The waterbender shook her head and looked at him.
"You don't get it," she told him, "when I was younger, my parents never took me to the local doctor's office. We always used homemade remedies." She sighed again. "They just make me really nervous, and I don't like the antiseptic either. It's just too clean." Mako looked at her, trying to keep from feeling too guilty about messing with her.
"Well, listen. I promise you, these guys aren't here to hurt you. I'll be right by you, anyways." He smiled. "You do trust me, don't you?" Korra sighed and gave a small smile.
"Of course I do," she said as she wrapped her arm around his.
"Korra?" The avatar looked up when she heard he name. There was a pretty looking nurse standing in the doorway separating the waiting room from the examination rooms. "The doctor will see you now." Korra nodded shakily and stood up. She put all her weight on her good food and her crutch. Mako placed his hand on the small of her back to keep her steadied. He helped her hobbled through the doorway before finally picking her up. She gasped in surprise.
"Hey!" she yelped. Mako grinned and gestured to the nurse.
"Point the way." He told her. She giggled softly and led them down the hall.
"You are so lucky that door was shut." Korra whispered. Mako chuckled and carried her into their room.
"If I hadn't it would have taken forever to get here." He told her. "Thank you, ma'am," he nodded to the nurse.
"You're welcome," she smiled, amused at the young couple. "Doctor Greene will be will you in a moment." She giggled one last time at the pair and walked out. Mako set Korra down gently on one of the chairs.
"I promise, everything'll be fine," he bent down and pressed a warm kiss to her forehead. He sat down next to her and grabbed her hand, linking her fingers with hers. They sat there for a few minutes until the doctor walked in.
"Hello there," a voice said from the door. The two teenagers looked up and saw a man walking in.
He was about Tenzin's age, maybe a little younger, with black hair and light stubble across his chin and jaw. He was about half a head taller than Mako.
"Hi," Korra said timidly. She squeezed her boyfriend's hand as the doctor sat down.
"Hello son," he stuck his hand out for Mako to shake.
"Hello Dr. Greene," the firebender grasped his hand firmly and shook.
"How are you today?" he asked. Korra swallowed the lump in her throat and opened her mouth reluctantly.
"Sore, tired," she informed. He laughed lightly and the waterbender relaxed a bit.
"That's understandable. How have your arm and leg been?" he asked. She glanced at both limbs and stretched her leg a little. She shrugged.
"As well as they can be, I guess," she told him. "I'm able to walk on my leg a little bit now. I'm not sure about my arm. When I had it looked at the first time, they said it was fractured and to keep it in the sling." He nodded his head as she spoke.
"That sounds about right," he eyed her right arm. "Can you move it okay?" he asked.
"I don't know," she said. "I haven't tried." Dr. Greene stood up and came over to her.
"Well, that's why you're here. Let's try it out and see how maneuverable it is." He said. "Could help her son?" he asked Mako. He nodded.
"Of course sir." He reached behind Korra's neck and untied the fabric. "And please, call me Mako.
"Okay then, Mako," Dr. Greene said, grinning. "Come here and help me." He went over and stood next to him. "Korra, can you lift your arm?" Korra tried to raise her arm up, but it felt like a dead. "I take that as a no. It's okay, it's just because you haven't been using it. Mako, can you help her?" He asked the boy. The teenager nodded and grabbed her arm gingerly. "Make sure you hold it gently and you move slowly. We don't want to hurt her." He told him cautiously.
"Yes sir, understood." Mako replied.
"Now Korra, can you stretch your arm out fully?" he questioned her. She slowly stretched her arm, unbending her elbow. "How does it feel?"
"Wonderful. It feels good to stretch it. It's kinda tight, but besides that it's good." She confirmed.
"That's expected, but that's good. Now, Mako, gently lift her arm, slowly though. Korra, if it hurts while he's lifting, say something." He instructed the two of them. They both nodded and Mako slowly lifted the waterbender's arm up. She hissed softly as a sharp pain throbbed from her shoulder.
"I'm sorry Korra!" Mako said hurriedly, gently setting her arm back down. She shook her head.
"It's okay," she smiled. "That's as far as it'll go doc." She stated. "It's my shoulder." She explained as her looked over her arm and shoulder.
"We'll give that a week or so and see if it can heal itself up. It should be fine though. It's probably just a sprained or really sore muscle." He told her confidently. "Now, let's take a look at your leg." Korra rolled her pants legs up until it was halfway up her thigh.
"Mako, can you unclip the bandage for me?" she asked him softly. He nodded and undid the two clips holding the gauze pad on. "Thank hun." She smiled and began unraveling the bandage. She took it off, leaving on the gauze covering the wound. She removed it so Dr. Greene could check it out.
"How often have you been changing the bandages?" he questioned, studying the wound and the burn marks surrounding it.
"Every night after my shower. Pema helped me out." She said. Mako eyed her, knowing Pema definitely wasn't the one helping her. She gave him quick glance and he understood. Keep your trap shut!!
"That's good," he responded, "for now, let it air out every night. Keep it wrapped during the day and uncover it before bed." He advised her.
"Okay sir. Sounds good." Korra smiled. She stood up and Mako wrapped a protective arm around her waist.
"Alright, and don't strain that arm," he pointed out, "it'll take longer to heal if you do. If you want you can do a few stretching exercises but no more." The avatar nodded obediently
"Yes sir, will do," she said and Dr. Greene nodded and walked out.
"See, that wasn't too bad, was it?" Mako squeezed her side and grinned. Korra smiled a little and shook her head.
"No, I guess not." She murmured, "I guess it's a good thing I trusted you, huh?" she giggled and stood on the tip toes of her right foot and kiss him.
"Definitely a good thing," he whispered when she pulled back. She giggled softly and hugged him.
"Thank you," she mumbled against his cheek. He pulled away and looked at her.
"For?" he asked. She smirked and kissed him again softly.
"Everything." She whispered.
and all the nurses watching from the door squeal girlishly and spaz!!
